Yuichiro Fukaya Kicked Out!?

Aural Candy: (cool blog, btw -- check it out.)
Couldn't have said it better myself.Oh, no! According to honyakuno-hime's translation of Izumi's September 30 diary entry, Kagrra,'s CD jacket designer will be changed. By this, I assume he meant the artist who drew those gorgeous cover arts. If this is so, I really don't think it's a good idea to replace the talented Fukaya Yuichiro, for his beautiful artworks have essentially become trademarks of Kagrra, the band.
Yuichiro's unique artistic style is an essential element of any Kagrra release; he's as important as Derek Riggs (who created all the classic Iron Maiden album/single covers in the 80s.). Yuichiro's like a 6th member of the band now, practically. I'd pay a couple bucks more for a CD with his art on it.
I'm *hoping* that maybe "jacket designer" got mistranslated -- like maybe Kagrra are just switching printing companies or layout artists, not the actual graphic/cover artist... but if Fukaya-san is really out the door, I'm curious about why. Did he start charging too much? Did he want to do something more risky, or otherwise alter his style? Did he finally hear some of Kagrra' music ("OMG I assumed you guys were enka! I hate VK!")...?
Oh, no! According to

Actually, he really is getting replaced. The covers for the November single "Utakata" have been announced. Check them out here: http://community.livejournal.com/kagrra/271352.html#cutid1
And thanks for mentioning my blog, Go. :D
It's not reflected on their HP, but looking here: http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/list_from_code_banner.html?key=263691
it looks like maybe they have opted to give it a go without him. They did this for awhile with the singles before San as well.
You mentioned the Iron Maiden example; I'm going to mention the Yes example: a Yes album without Roger Dean may have good music (Going for the One and 90125, for example), but it can also be a kiss of death (Tormato & Talk).
Any excuse to mention Yes and Kagrra in the same breath, I guess. :-P
You mean new Kagrra, ISN'T enka?
I would say Roger Dean was more vital to Asia than Yes. Asia had some badass album covers, even if they were completely inferior to yes.
And booo, what is a Kagrra single without Fukaya art? Nothing I care to purchase. But I'll still download it because I <3 Kagrra.
no more lovely fukaya art?! o_O damn! what are the members, or their company, thinking?!
It is sad that he had to go. though I do like the minimalistic dynamic of the new cover art. I don't think you can do that sort of thing with Fukaya's art I think to this degree without sacrificing the art.
I bet Kagrra went "oh my god, not that guy ~again~... enought, let's do something new".
I'm glad someone mentioned Yes album covers.
ugh! i don't hate the new covers (thx A.C.!) but i think they're inferior to Yuichiro's stuff (but better than that crappy non-Yuichiro single with the photo of the girl on the cover... name forgotten...)
I hope their musical style is not undergoing a similarly drastic change!
That was Rin. And some musical invention wouldn't be bad from Kagrra, they might be TOO consistent. Consistently awesome but it leaves something to be desired.
this makes me sad too-- i really love yuichiro fukaya's work T_T i hope he still produces awesomeness even if it's not under kagrra.
